这是一首曲调舒缓的歌曲，并非如usher一如既往地那样悲悯爱情，而是一首关注人文，反思社会，讽刺那些只知道抱怨世界却不愿改变自己，造造福他人的人。
歌曲主要分成两个部分。第一部分是对一个中产阶级的富人的描述，痛过歌词深刻揭露了一个为富不仁，麻木无情的统治者的嘴脸。第二部分写了一个沉浸闲事，不问世事的普通百姓。只知道抱怨不公与黑暗是徒劳的，我们应该通过自己的努力，让世界变得更澄澈。这就是这首歌基本的背景了。
音译，暇步士Hush Puppies:是美国的一个休闲鞋履服装品牌。
暇步士（Hush Puppies）的意思是能够让狗停止狂叫使狗安静的美味玉米球。暇步士的创始人，1958年，参加一次朋友聚会时，碰巧遇到了这种玉米球。而狂叫的狗在英语中用来比喻因穿了不合适的鞋子而脚痛。因此，创始人就把暇步士用于的鞋子的名字，这就是当初的第一双休闲鞋暇步士了。
